ASEAN Founders Aviation Sub-Tree

First one looks like an Ace Combat promo wallpaper, sick!

Not directly on topic but I can’t help but wonder about this development, Japan is waking up and breaking the chains. Wonder if we’ll see exports on the aviation side of things or even their air to air missiles.

Or maybe exported Type 10 & F-2?

I don’t know about air to air missiles, but I can definitely see F-2s being sold. I lowkey hope that they do get exported, it gives the F-2 an opportunity to be modified and upgraded again, since there’s so many F-2 upgrades that were conceptual and never came.

inb4 Indonesia buys the entire fleet of F-2 to add them to their fleet of every other jet aircraft in history that they operate

yea because planes like P-1, C-2 and US-2 are gaining interest to several nations, and soon Japan’s involvement in GCAP as well

Only if the country in question buys them second hand, unfortunately the F-2 is no longer in production and the production lines closed over a decade ago.

I mean they’ll be replaced with GCAP eventually and Indonesia doesn’t have any yet, so…

Aren’t Japan planning to retire them soon anyways? Seems like a great opportunity to get some older F-2s off their hands and make some money.

RMAF’s first FA-50M painted, batch reg M58-XX
(now when they gonna add Korean TT so the Koreans won’t accuse us getting it into Japan TT first before Korean FA-50)

iirc the F-2s will be kept in service until F-3 (GCAP) is ready. Another upgrade to at least some F-2s is planned anyway, like the integration of the air launched Type 25 SSM variant.

Which block FA-50 is the M?

Block 20, maybe 60 in current config, the AMRAAM integration drama with Poland made it not sure is it either 60 or 70 (although the US have give it a greenlight some days ago)

Was about to mention that

unless they’re selling it for cheap I dont think we’re gonna go for it especially since the budget is being used for useless airframes

Yeah it was mostly a joke. But I wouldn’t be too surprised if it ends up similar to that Mirage 2000 situation a while back.

We will likely have to wait a long time. Maybe at the next major expo we will see stuff but I am wondering if any of the Japanese Heavy Industries have cooked stuff up and kept them hidden but the 3rd party spare parts market for all equipment is popular. Japan will likely have issues as Korea has gobbled up a lot of the contracts and have a history Japan will need to prove there equipment (Tanks, aircraft, rifles and artillery etc.) is affordable and effective. Though there ships are liked and I think there is something going on with Australia. But we will likely see a lot of Japanese bits and bobs out there.

Yeah it will definitely take its sweet time but better late than never.

Lovely, I love the FA-50, this thing can probably slot in between the MiG-29N and F/A-18D, or actually foldered with either one, it’s such a cool jet.

the stuff produced wont effect the tree.
