British Aircraft Corporation TSR.2: The Bomber that Never Was

Regardless of the state bombers are in, this aircraft is iconic and needs to come! +1

the aircraft that should have been put to service, would love this in game so freaking bad

I asked the channel uploader to replace the bad ai image with an actual photo of TSR.2, but this archival footage they have uploaded from Boscombe Down is amazing.

Hopefully if its added it gets everything it should have or would have had so its a viable aircraft. Would be useful in ground mix battles.

I honestly think this thing would dominate if it is added and I fully support it haha

Lol we need a way to set terrain flowing systems (autopilot) being able to lock your plane as close to the ground as possible would help for planes that have it like this one.

very true

TSR.2 was one of the first major planes to do this as trying to out climb anti-air missiles where hitting its limit. Might make you harder to hit against by radar missiles.

Me in my buccaneer at a constant 5m just to get hit by one of them 100m tall trees around the map.

Would love this for sim tho, can you imagine not having to give constant input while looking around to pull up into someone. I feel like dampener mode should still allow trimming to take place as it would be a good enough work around thats not too much trouble to implement.

yep I should make a suggestion but it would take time to understand how the system works and its risks. Some modern terrain flowing tech can dodge trees, buildings and powerlines when pushed right down to the ground others are very primitive some only work on the water like our anti-ship missiles.

in theory it could take loads of a2a missiles that version if it had been a thing

I have a question of the TSR.2, it was developed at a similar time (mostly) to the XB-70, the wingtips of the XB-70 would have dropped down to further compress the supersonic wave created by its airintakes. The XB-70 was a low wing design, would that same prinicple work that well on the TSR.2 with a top wing?

Also what is that kind of delta wing called? The F-16 has the same kind that allows it to not lose all its speed like tailess deltas like Mirages, the geometry names is easy but are wings like the MiG-21, TSR.2, F-16 all just called tailed deltas?

The TSR.2 winglets are not for compression lift. They are for wingtip vortex reduction for efficiency, aswell as stability (look at other aircraft like the He-162). To further the point there is no direct compression wave in-line with the leading edge of the wing for the winglets to capture any of it underneath.

They should all just be Delta winged aircraft. You are confusing tail-less aircraft to be a specific category normally used in conversation. You can get references like “delta-canard” aircraft like the XB-70 that you mentioned. But I have never heard people specify ‘delta-tailless’ in the circles I have been in. For example my Vulcan is just a “delta” winged aircraft.

For example the J-10, Typhoon, Rafale and Gripen are all Delta’s.
