UPDATE 2.0

Now that a United Korean tree has been confirmed, I thought it was the perfect time to revamp the entire suggestion! The tree has undergone some big changes, and the post is more in-depth and more visually appealing. (Apologies to anyone who’s been pinged again by me replacing the entirety of the vehicle section)

Regarding the tree, I’ve streamlined it in many areas. The structure has been changed, from:

  • DPRK LTs/MBTs - ROK LTs/MBTs - DPRK SPGs/TDs - ROK SPGs/TDs - Combined SPAA, to:
  • Combined LTs/IFVs - ROK MBTs - DPRK MBTs - Combined SPGs/TDs - Combined Spaa

A few new vehicles have been added, but even more have been removed, either due to lack of specifications (M1992 APC, for example), lack of cohesion with the rest of the tree, being mock-ups (KW2 Jupiter), or not being balanced (Ch’ŏnma-215: Ch’ŏnma-216 armour and weight, but much weaker engine), etc.

Many North Korean vehicles have been renamed to be more accurate. I’m in the midst of creating a website with a complete list of all North Korean vehicles, and their official names (wherever possible) — I’ll share it here when it’s done.

Old and new version side-by-side:

Thats… a lot more than I’ve expected XD

Anyway, very nice to see there is even more unique stuff that could be added, unlike some people try to make it look like the other way.

Hopefully my Cheongung Block II suggestion gets approved soon.

I’m a big fan of this, I love Korea and it’s amazing to see that there are a lot of options!!

Ch’onma with LRF (Usually called Ch’onma II) and Ch’onma 215 removed?

The 215 is the very early version of the 216 so maybe as a squadron vehicle?

Yeah, both for balancing reasons.

Ch’onma (1985) [‘Ch’onma II’] is just a T-62 with a LRF. At 8.7, it would just be a blatant improvement over the T-62 / Ch’onma. But it’s also not enough to justify it going to 9.0. IMO it would only work if the T-62 ever got moved down to 8.3. Or if people are fine with powercreep.

The Ch’onma-215 is practically a Ch’onma-216, but it likely lacks the upgraded engine. This means it’s (probably) got a 580hp engine for ~42t of weight, giving it a hp/t ratio of ~13.8. Which is shockingly bad compared to the Ch’onma-216 which probably has a 780hp engine and roughly the same weight (18.57hp/t). This means it wouldn’t work well at 9.3, and if moved down to 9.0, it’s in an awkard space where it’s the same BR as the Ch’onma-92, -98, and -214, despite having (probably) significantly better armour, but is slow AF. So probably too well-armoured at 9.0, and too slow at 9.3.

Doesn’t exist yet, plus polish tech tree

If decompression were to happen, would there be chance for them and any other removed vehicles to return?

Hopefully. I do want these vehicles (I want every single DPRK one) but I also tried to be realistic. They very well could fit in the game, just not right now (also depends what armour values Gaijin gives them; if the -215/216 armour isn’t too strong / basically the same as the -98/214 then 9.0 might be completely fine)

And the K2EX is practically the same

neverthless of Polish subtree/techtree, both can have K2PL ig

I like the new structure better. It is more faithful to its in-game role, just like other existing trees in the game.

Although the KW2 Jupiter is a mock-up, it might be considered a ‘partially built prototype’ based on its loading mechanism. It is difficult to say for sure yet, so I need to look for more information.

Eritrean Ch’onma is a bit disappointing. I was expecting the 14.5mm coaxial laser beam…

This tree really doesn’t need to exist. Combining NK & SK, nations with completely different alliances, is a bad idea just like how they bunched ROC and PRC together. They would never fight together in any realistic scenario.

One side doesn’t really have access to the internet

None of the matchups would (have fought) fight together in any realistic scenario either.
That sort of stuff was thrown out of tge window long ago

I don’t hear any north Koreans complaining, & south Koreans, as far as I can tell, are pretty much all in favour.

Probably only the Supreme Leader can complain, I assume he has internet connection XD

Can’t wait for the one steam user in north korea to have a take about this.
