British Weapon Systems - Technical data and discussion

Sometimes they just outright miss a stationary target which still has radar lock on me (as i try to bait them to keep radar going by flying “just close enough” to be risky, other times it feels like they are just aiming to hit the radar itself directly and only knocking the guns out and some times it looks like direct hits and nothing happens.

A few times I get kills, but a lot of the time the above happens with only minimal “crit” damage at best.

Tried a fair few different ways of firing them off and all have similar results.

Firing from anywhere between 6-15km away at 3000-5000m alt.
firing from 5-12km at 500-2000m alt.

All just feels weird as I have no issues with ALARM and when I was using the agm 88 in the nuke events originally I had zero issues of them hitting the targets (if not shot down) 1 shotting pretty much every time.

Thats weird, could he have turned off his radar at the last moment?

from my visit at the de Havilland museum today, although what strikes me is they have a active skyflash here but from everything ive read about that missile says it never left the drawing board as got cancelled rather early on for aim120 procurement?

still 15m blast radius?

What do you mean? Skyflash active is just a active radar version of the skyflash. So it’s virtually the same missile with different seeker

Wad there any idea what the seaker stats were?

Not much is known about the missile from the research ive done online, I think information will be very hard to find since the missile according to some pages never got prototyped and tested, but due to the missile i saw in the museum im not sure if that’s true since it does state its a active skyflash

wasnt there like a swedish version aswell

iirc, it did somethings better than Aim-120A, but did other things worse, but I cant recall what exactly that was.

Between Skyflash SuperTEMP and Meteor, the development of new variants flip-flopped between SAAB and BAE quite a bit.

was er S225X and S225XR fully made or what?

There is definetly a photo of the Viggen mounted with one of them, but I don’t know if they were operational

i highly doubt they were active skyflash though surely? although who knows

I think its S225XR

the picture looks like a early meteor as it has what look like air intake ducts on the bottom of the missile

That would be an interesting premium

The zoom on the AJAX is painful.
Who cares how good the thermals are if you everything at any reasonable distance is still just a blob because of how terrible the optics are.

That is exactly what S225XR is.

You had

Skyflash
Skyflash Active
Ramjet Skyflash
S225
S225XR
Meteor.

Or something like that

It would be. Same with Tornado F3 with Meteor

Literally my only complaint (outside of it being unfinished) with the Ajax.

Fingers crossed, I mean if Challenger 3 Pre production is added, it uses the same sights so.
