The history of development between the Skyflash ST and the Meteor is a complicated mess that Ive tried to get my head round, but gave up. :D
oh i see, ever way would like to gain more knowledge of the development of these missiles especially the later versions of skyflash we never got due to politics
So I did some research on French MAWS systems, and there’s specific language that talks about how the MAWS features spectral signature discrimination, so it doesn’t alarm on false signatures like aircraft or aircraft engines and is tuned to pick up specifically the spectral signature of a missile motor.
Conversely, I would imagine the AIM-9M is tuned to the spectral signatures of aircraft and aircraft engine, so is it supposed to pick up on missiles, or is it supposed to be blind to it the way it is blind to flares?
I would imagine having the AIM-9M discriminate spectrally against missiles would help with players having shot missiles at targets only for it to be “flared” by the target’s missiles.
