Kh38 (and the like for the most part, but 38 is the most demonstrative) reacquire the target as it leaves smoke, has adequate inertial fallbacks to keep it tracking adequately to retain the target in seeker view if it smokes whilst on the move and continues that vector, and has a heavy enough warhead to secure a kill on a target that remains static or moves slowly in smoke. The point lock also can transition into a track lock when loosed into smoke, if the target moves through it, further reducing the efficacy of smoke.
I’ve been killer dozens of times through smoke by a KH-38
You’ve been killed dozens of times through smoke by maverick. Its mostly prolongation time and then going ballistic being close enough and/or skill issue driving forward through your own smoke.
you’d have to be killed hundred times by KH-38MT to hit the very specific situation where it cannot lock on surface and will do IOG (mostly weird map/placed building geometry and sitting in a corner)
IOG does work though, why do you think it doesn’t.
If you pop smoke Vs an AGM-65 and it looses track of the target it self destructs.
If you pop smoke Vs an KH-38MT, it keeps going to your last known location
If only there was a feature in game that would let you see what you’re saying is untrue. Hell you can now even see it happen in real time with MITL missiles.
There isn’t IOG for anything that can lock on surface. It will just hungrily lock onto it
Would give up on convincing them. From a brief review, it seems you would be met with more success endeavouring to extract Caliburn from the stone by asking it nicely as compared to convincing this soul water is wet, even were you to go so far as to dunk them in it.
But is water wet?
I’d certainly hope so, but with old mate’s convictions, who knows. Might be coarse and unpleasant instead.
You could at least have provided some evidence to back up what you’re saying. You’ve had a whole year to do so. Especially as it would take literally five minutes.
I’ve never been killed by a maverick through smoke. Hell Mavs barely exist past 10.7 cause no one brings them anymore at high tiers.
just a random question not sure if anyone knows why or whatever, how come the british don’t put sea venom on our typhoons? always wondered why they never got a antiship missile fitted irl
Why the RAF doesnt have any ASM is a good question, they really should have something, anything until Stratus is delivered.
But I dont think Sea Venom is a good choice for it. Its designed to be small and lightweight, Ideal for mounting onto a heli, and perfect for taking out light attack craft, but probably isnt doing much against a larger, heavier target like a destroyer. Likewise its got quite limited range, 20km max when heli launched, so probably 30-40km at most if dropped my a Typhoon.
They would be more likely added for an A2G role than an A2N role tbh, and then Brimstone is still largely superior in a number of ways.
What we really need to do is either quickly buy and fit Marte-ER or something like Harpoon. In-game, Im hoping they add Marte-ER sooner rather than later
isn’t that what the italians fit to their typhoons? i mean we could just get that being they gave everyone else who has typhoons the same weapons even though they don’t use them. and yes i agree we need to fit some form of antiship weapon to our typhoons as we can’t rely on the p-8 or wildcats
Yep, I think so. So I wouldnt be surprised if only the Italian Typhoon got ASM despite “technical compatibility” but all Typoons get Spear-3 when added because “technical compatability”
But yeah, its long standing issue of RN vs RAF I think
true that, somehow britain would be leftout. i mean apparently from a post i saw it was due to the age old issue of money, but hopefully the up coming projects would solve that lack of capability
Same reason we didn’t put Sea Skua on Tornado instead of Sea Eagle. It wasn’t designed for fast jet release, and under most circumstances Typhoon would be capable of attacking corvette-sized targets with the same weapons it would use against land targets.
Sea Venom isn’t big enough to sink anything that’s an appreciable threat to fast jets (frigates, destroyers etc.).
Even if the targets are all ships, ASuW with helicopters is largely an extension of a surface combatant’s ASuW role, to defend them from small attack craft. It’s a different mission to the anti-ship strike role with fast jets, or ASuW role of submarines, to actively hunt surface fleets.
i get that but i just didn’t know why britain unlike italy didn’t put a asm on our typhoons
This week on:
The MoD being dumb
That and the British deciding to cripple their economy for reasons. The state they’ve been in for a while hasn’t been too conducive to unnecessary military expenditure.
Internal politics: Blowing up boats is the navy’s job
