I think im officially calling it. Paveway IVs are bugged, either Aiming points or POI, they just fly off into the yonder, thats even from alt in a level drop
Range? I didn’t see any issues with them earlier.
about 15km, the target was within the CCIP reticle
Getting about a 90% failure rate on PW4 drops using any method of targeting bar SAL
Will check again. If it does behave dodgy, wonder if it’s behaving dodgy for kab 250lg alongside it. Same kind of targeting functionality.
“Italy” only did it because a foreign customer was interested in putting AShMs on Typhoon, and an Italian company has a suitable AShM it wants to sell to said foreign customer. The fit checks and system handshakes were done at a financial cost to MBDA and Leonardo, to investigate whether it might be successful and put forward their missile as a solution for that customer. At the end of the day, it’s going to be the customers paying to integrate AShMs on Typhoon, not industry.
It’s was still not funded by the Italian MoD as of 4 years ago, and they’re likely still just observing what MBDA do before assessing if there’s low enough risk to invest in getting Marte-ER in to AMI service.
The UK doesn’t have a domestic FJ-capable AShM to sell that makes a business case for putting one on Typhoon through BAE, even as a curiosity.
MBDA aren’t about to pay BAe a large amount of money to put Sea Venom on Eurofighter when they know full well it is never going to be a viable product, and the RAF has a number of other platforms to develop AShM capabilities for, before considering Typhoon.
I cannot reproduce this. They’re not pin point accurate, but they’re hitting within the vicinity I would expect. Lased they’re hitting pin point, but unlased they’re ending up within the ~5m-ish area.
Using Typhoon.
Might just be Buggy Escalation.
But this is what happens basically everytime unless I attack in a dive bomb
Can also enjoy the ITO spawning directly under me too, always fun
As an aside; glad to know people not playing pact also get shafted by the Itos. It seems even in orbit they will get you.
Will check again in NE, just didn’t want to deal with the queue times :(
You are screwed either way.
ITOs are death spheres, and the only weapon ive got that can actually deal with one on the move is the 2x AGM-88Cs and it takes both to kill one. Thats if its gracious enough to turn its radar on before 7-8km
2S6s intercept everything and need 3-4 weapons each to kill. Forget attacking a site with more than 3, its just a waste of weapons, at least in something like the Typhoon with a limited loadout
and this is another reason why I hate the Spice-250s.
Its picking a dead building over the live SPAA, and the capture area is massive.
Just give us GNSS only versions already, might actually be usable
why not use brimstone (it has IOG)
Neat, at least you have a hope in hell. Have had them eat the entire salvo of 6 kh58s, or even 31s. Their interception rates are ludicrous. Resorted to dumb rockets to deal with them with some level of consistency.
Resorting to GNSS weapons for both pact and western aircraft. The time it takes to lock and loose a salvo correctly is just too much with how threatening the air defense situation is. Which would be less of a problem with ECM or ARMs not drifting to orbit the moment a radar shuts off.
After 2 sorties in NE, I’m still getting hits in the general area the weapons are sent, but it is significantly worse. Had 2 miss one of the long depot buildings by about the length of a depot. So yeah, something’s askew.
Because Brimstone has piss poor range, an intertial drift so poor it would disappear into the aether over hitting targets, and the closure rate is equally glacial.
Oh, and a miserable heat warhead.
and that will do what exactly?
The IOG drift is artificially too high and even if it was correct, it would still miss the target. Now if we had actual Brimstones that might be an option, but right now they are a waste of a pylon
Submarines are drastically more effective and their munitions are specialised to kill aircraft carriers, so nothing else stands even close to a chance, however their stunning lack of availability naturally raises concerns on that front.
Nimrod upgrade had it have gone through would’ve had Harpoon.
I think given we have NSM, procuring some LRASM or some JSM would be a good idea both for F-35 and for the P-8’s. (Yes I will argue that F-35B with JSM is a plaster solution, and thats because what idiot builds a naval fighter with no ideal cruise missile)
I have zero faith the F-35’s will have Stratus integrated at anything resembling soon if it’s even possible due to its mess of code, and I also am unsure of the ground clearance. But that’s to say its better to suck it up and buy JSM on that note. JSM and LRASM are also already in trials for P-8 so we wouldn’t even have to fund it.
I see no point in buying Marte-ER unless they’re actively giving the RAF an active Anti-shipping role in coordination with the Navy (who currently are responsible for that mission). If so, then having multiple munitions rather than just 2 Stratus planned for Typhoon would be a worthwhile idea.
But that would also add weight to the point i’ve been making for months which is that the UK needs to procure both STRATUS options, and not just L/O because its a Stormshadow 2.0.

Hmm can we have islander wish sea skua missiles?

Good news, the Hawk T1A report got accepted.
Cheers to @Master_Teaz for helping me out with it. Also thanks to Smin who I think checked out the report as I pinged him earlier haha.
This should make the Hawk around 400kg lighter, which is a pretty huge difference for such a light aircraft.
