True, france might even decide to forego tanks completly as well depending on it and seen necesarity
And stick a main cannon on a light like the centauro as example, which they likely could still fullfill themself completly and built
From entering the game in 2019 to today in 2026, the only improvement is that the reload time has been reduced from 6 seconds to 5 seconds. The track traverse issue still hasn’t been resolved.
This MBT simply doesn’t deserve a 12.7 battle rating
And gun handling was improved (previously was similar to type 10).
But yeah that’s about it
@dotSHINI
New Nexter ammo catalogue states that Shard was actually already tested on leclerc. I guess there’s some kind of DGA embargo on such things. I always found weird that they only tested on leopard
It’s interesting to see that MV on both guns is actually nearly identical

Yeah, its was very likely.
My issue is their ambigious statement of 15% penetration increase.
The penetration of rounds is so different between different rounds, that it makes that statement pretty useless.
It makes the difference of ~100m already if you compare old french rounds and DM53 as example
And as someone working in product compliance the REACH statements always make me chuckle
They didnt specify here if the MZ was from l/44or l/55.
That you should consider as well
Yep, i did consider it (it’s also interesting that they tested it on the L/44, as it opens a market that isn’t available if you want the latest DM series shells). It’s highly unlikely that they could push the L/44 MV to such speeds (even higher than the Leclerc L/52 canon). The points of the longer caliber of the Leclerc and later léopards was specially to increase muzzle velocity compared to earlier 105 and 120mm canons.
My guess is that they capped the L/55 MV either because of the energy capacity of the shell, or to increase the longevity of the barrel (which is one of the key selling point of KNDS when it comes to the shard)
Aside from this point, I agree with your other points. But the more conservative estimation is to compare to the current OFL 120 F1 implementation, which would give the lower bound of the penetration at around 650+mm. And it’s not like gaijin added other shells with about as much known to its capabilities.
One important addition is that KNDS has officially confirmed an order for several thousand SHARD rounds by the French DGA. Its performance was also successfully validated with the Leclerc gun, so it is no longer merely an experimental round.
The exact penetration remains uncertain because KNDS does not specify the reference behind the “+15%” claim. Using the current OFL 120 F1 as a rough in-game reference would give around 662 mm at 10 m, placing SHARD in the same general class as DM53 and M829A3. That would be fair, but that is just my Opinion.
At minimum, the SXXI and AZUR should receive SHARD. Giving it to the S1 and S2 could also be justified for balance, since they use the same L/52 gun. That would make the Leclercs far more enjoyable. I also have high hopes that they add the Leclerc XLR.
Ideally they don’t put SHARD on every Leclerc, that way two could be shifted to 12.3 for a new line up
Since it’s higher than from leclercs L52 I think it’s quite obvious
Shard this, shard, it doesn’t matter. Even without shard the s1 and s2 at the very least should be 12.0 if the abrams are going to stay there
Went from using the Abrams for a few hundred games and rotated back to the Leclerc
The difference between the A3 and the F1 is crazy. Leclerc could really use a new round or Gaijin needs to rework how spall works
Old video from when Lelcerc was first added back in 2019. Top tier was BR 10.0 and other tanks at its BR were T-80U and Type-90. (both are a full BR below Lelcerc now)
Yesterday I got oneshottet by a 2S38 frontal 2 times, this game is crazy fun

People are gettin focused on new shell while I’m still waiting for FCS modelling fix.
How come shooting gunner optics with 50cal can actually disable the FCS? You guys focusing on wrong aspect tbh.
I’m sadly not expecting change for it.
Pretty sure leclerc went down a lot in terms of kda or whatever and gaijin does not care.
They need to push their flawed version of realistic, and since fixing french stuff is not high on the list who cares for them.
Thats the point. I dont think they will fix the Modell, i think a new shell is more likely with maybe a introduction of a new Leclerc
Look at the Challenger discussion. Do you really think they will change the Modell?
Tbh I use my Chally2’s more than Leclerc on these days.
People sleep on them too much but Black Night and 2E are actually solid despite their flaws and gives me solid results for Aussie Abrams grind (talisman on both tanks helps a lot tho).
