btw if in the end we cant change the speed, we already have another source from germany stating a MAX range of 50km correct?

this is a source from Austria wich is aquiring the SLM aswell also stating a range of a max range of 50km do you think those together would be 2 seconday sources? since austria is getting the SLM

in the end it has to get them to adjust the kinetic energy of the missile atleast

Flaring them from front-aspect while they were being fired at ~8km. Their booster was still working

To be fair longer burn and less thrust can indeed end up making it go the same speed, I however question this by simply stating that they came up with a aerodynamic cap to increase range and also specifically to shield the sensor from the heat from flying at high speeds.

The standard IRIS-T missile can already fly a really long time at really high speeds and doesn’t need it. So why does this need it? My guess is for the increased speed and therefore heat, but yeah this is complete speculation on my end.

And for the primary source: Yes there is a wide range of values possible, BUT even the lowest number doesn’t match up with what we have currently and that’s when we pretend the targeting drone flew at max speed towards the target. So there is a lot of math involved but even the worst case scenario shows better values.

I do understand the devs can’t take this as a simple source, but I hope that some of them look at it and try to recreate it to some extend. Maybe they can find a reasonable solution. I’d take Mach 2 top speed when it still matches other points, due to loft profiles, less drag or more burn time.

The booster burning doesn’t really make any difference, they are just that slow compared to what they should be

It’s not an IR missile. It’s an infra red imaging missile. Different approach and the pretty much impossible to flare.

I doubt it since there are so many primary sources that state 40km and i think they take priority. Even the manufacturer themselves say 40km.

It specificially talks about the SLM, and that it’s meant for ranges between 40-50km. So it’s not outlandish to assume that 50km is the max range, coupled with the BW also stating that.
